Burns Development Group is assisting client, Maxim Integrated Products, Inc. with their search to site a new R& D facility, including application to the State of Texas for Enterprise Project designation. The $22 million, three story, facility to be constructed in Farmers Branch will be between 150,000 to 200,000 square feet. The project has the support of the City of Farmers Branch, who approved incentives to support its development and a request is pending with the county. A $1.25 million Enterprise Project request from the State of Texas is in review.

Maxim is a publicly traded company that designs, manufactures, and sells semiconductor products. To date, Maxim has developed over 6300 integrated circuits serving the industrial, communications, consumer, and computing markets. Headquartered in Sunnyvale, California, Maxim has design centers, manufacturing facilities, and sales offices throughout the world. With over $1.6 billion in annual sales, 9,200 employees, and more than 35,000 customers worldwide, Maxim is among the most profitable companies in the semiconductor industry.

Maxim currently employs 800 highly skilled workers in Farmers Branch, with an average salary of $90,000. Their site search evaluated closing the facility and constructing or purchasing a building in another city or state. The decision was made to relocate 500 of the workers to the new R & D facility and to continue operation of a nearby fabrication facility that will employ 300 the remaining workers. The company expects to hire additional workers and has recently added 20 workers.
